01 — Ancestry overview
An ancestry overview looks across genetic variants inherited from both sides of your family. Your results can estimate broad regional similarities and population connections by comparing your DNA with available reference data. They offer clues about genetic ancestry rather than a definitive record of identity.
02 — Maternal line
Mitochondrial DNA is inherited through the maternal line and can be used to follow one direct path from you to your mother, her mother and the mothers who came before her. Small genetic changes accumulate over generations, creating patterns that can help researchers study maternal lineage through deep ancestry.
03 — Paternal line
Y-DNA is typically inherited from father to son, with small changes accumulating over generations. Those patterns can help trace one direct paternal line. If you do not carry a Y chromosome, a biological male from the same direct paternal line, such as a father, full brother or paternal uncle, may be able to provide the relevant sample.
